Washington D.C. is joining other cities with its own observation wheel. The 180-foot wheel at National Harbor in Maryland, just outside Washington, opened this summer.
Overlooking the Potomac River, the Capital Wheel features panoramic views of the National Mall, the White House and more. It has one feature no other wheel offers. It offers 41 climate-controlled gondolas, each holding up to eight passengers, plus one VIP gondola that holds four.
It will be open to the public daily through December. Rates are $15 per adult, $11.25 for children ages 3-11, and it’s free for children age 2 and under. Seniors and members of the military get a price break, paying $13.50.
